ABC canceled the sitcom 'Roseanne' after its star, Roseanne Barr, sent a racially charged tweet directed at former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.Ā Ms. Barr wrote that if the ā€œMuslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = vj."Ā Ms. Jarrett was born in Iran and is Black.
Ā
After ABC took swift action,Ā writers on both sides of the aisle haveĀ expressed generalĀ agreement that the network did not violate free speech rights, arguingĀ that the private company has the right to operate within a certain set of values.

President Trump on Thursday canceled the much anticipated summit with North Korea inĀ a letter to Kim JongĀ Un that cited ā€œtremendous anger and open hostilityā€ from the country. Supporters of the decision argueĀ that the president made the right call in the wakeĀ of North Korea's recent remarks about the US, which mocked Vice President Mike Pence and pointed to a potential nuclear confrontation.

President Trump officially withdrew from the Iran Deal, an Obama-era international accord that lowered sanctions on IranĀ in exchange for limiting the country's ability to make nuclear weapons. Supporters of the decision argue that the agreement did not effectively reduce nuclear weapons development and even emboldened nuclear aspirations in the Middle East without consequence.Ā Detractors say that it will isolate the U.S.

Comedian Michelle Wolf delivered the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner monologue, and reactions were mixed on if the entertainer took things too far.Ā Detractors took issue with her crude jokes which harshly criticized Sarah Sanders and Kellyanne Conway, while supporters argued that such critiques are unfair in the context of the Trump administration.Ā

North Korea announced that it would cease nuclear testing indefinitelyĀ as Kim Jong-Un travels to meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.Ā Experts are divided on whether or not this actually signals openness to disarming. The news coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron's U.S. visit, who hopes that President Trump's meeting with Jong-Un will buy time for the Iran Deal.

How do you feel when your voice is heard? How do you feel when it is not?

We all want our voice to be heard. We all want to feel self-expressed. We all want to leave a gathering where we had something to say, having said what we wanted to say. If that does not happen, feelings of frustration, disagreement, and aloneness can creep in. These feelings, particularly when experienced over time, can lead to states of separation and division.
