Minnesota has some of the worst gaps in educational attainment in the country. That’s not really news anymore. What may be news to people living outside the state, however, is the degree of ethnic and class segregation in our apparently progressive ā€œbest places to liveā€ Twin Cities. Our extreme segregation is what inspired a handful of Minneapolitans from varying ethnic backgrounds to try hosting an intimate, honest conversation about race. The Living Room Conversations model provided a perfect format for this conversation.

The Labor Department released theĀ December 2017 jobs report, and media outlets across the aisle have had varyingĀ reactions to the raw data.Ā The U.S. economy added 148,000 jobs, falling short of whatĀ economists expected for the month, but unemployment remained at 4.1%, which is a 17-year low. On the whole, Left-leaning outlets painted theĀ report as disappointing with modest gains, while Right-leaning outlets emphasized the historically low unemployment rate, particularly in minority communities.

Happy New Year's from AllSides!Ā Every year, millions of people make New Year's resolutions, all of which are set with the very best of intentions. Many resolutions are focused on the self. There are people looking to lose weight or quit smoking, travel more or work less. Some people last untilJanuary 31st, some people last a few months, and the very disciplined among us might actually last the whole year. This year however, AllSides is challenging you to try something different.

CNN is, without a doubt, our most highly contested source. Based on past data, the current CNN media bias rating is Center, but many users argue that it should be labeled Lean Left, if not altogether Left. (Reminder: We only rate the media bias of sources as they appear on the Web and use those ratings to provide online articles that present diverse perspectives. We don't currently rate broadcast channels.)
