Two men from El Paso County were arrested on felony charges related to the Jan. 6 riots after federal authorities say they obstructed Congress’ proceeding to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. (KRDO) -- On Tuesday, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and Colorado State Patrol will escort DOC Parole Officer Christine Sandoval from the El Paso County Coroner's Office to Pueblo where she resided. With a new rush of asylum-seekers crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into El Paso, the city and its community partners are reaching the "breaking point," Mayor Oscar Leeser said. Leeser said more than 2,000 asylum-seekers were processed on Friday and a conversation with Customs and Border Protection officials showed as many as 6,500 already in custody. Controlled burns on national forest land in El Paso County are set to begin Monday. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office in a news release said its Wildland Fire Group will partner with U.S. Forest Service crews to conduct prescribed burns over a 400-acre area near Rampart Range Road and Forest Service Road 314, west of the Air Force Academy.
