More on the The Duke Chronicle

The Chronicle is a daily student newspaper at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Published to cover campus speeches and debates, the first issue came out in 1905. Sixty-three years later, the paper began publishing issues each weekday, rather than three times a week as it had been. Years later, it stopped taking student fees and broke with Duke University in order to report on the college without fear of repercussions from college administrators. The Chronicle is proud to have prepared many students for careers in journalism at notable sources, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic.

Today, the mission of The Chronicle's Editorial Board is to "enrich campus dialogue by offering thoughtful opinions on a variety of issues; to hold students, faculty and administrators publicly accountable for their statements and actions; and to help students sharpen their journalistic and writing skills". As of May 2017, the Editorial Board Chairs are Surabhi Beriwal and Asa Royal. Beriwal is a junior and math major who is also on the pre-health track; Royal is a sophomore interested in political and computer science and philosophy.

Wade in the summer 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision. “In the year and a half since [former president Donald] Trump overturned...
