The organizer of a ā€œblack massā€ that took place outside the Kansas state Capitol on Friday amid heavy Catholic protest was arrested shortly afterward in the Capitol building after punching a protester in the face.

A video from local news outlet WIBW shows Michael Stewart raising his arms and chanting in the Capitol rotunda, surrounded by a number of protesters urging him to stop. A young man later identified as Marcus Schroeder attempted to snatch what appeared to be papers from Stewart’s outstretched hands.

A physical altercation inside the Kansas Statehouse Friday ended with Capitol Police arresting Satanic church leader Michael Stewart, capping off a morning of inflammatory religious demonstration. Stewart punched a man, Marcus Jeremiah Jared Schroeder, who repeatedly attempted to rip a booklet out of his hands while he called out to Satan from the Capitol’s first-floor rotunda. Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Shawnee County Jail, records show.

On a Sunday morning in January, 20- and 30-somethings packed the chapel inside Temple Ohabei Shalom, a historic synagogue on the main thoroughfare of a quiet residential neighborhood near Boston. Stained-glass windows and stage lights cast a kaleidoscope of colors across the dimly lit space. The congregants were part of Grace City, a nondenominational church that began meeting in the synagogue last fall after outgrowing their previous meeting spot at a coworking space downtown. The church started in 2019 with just 50 people, but after Covid, attendance surged.

It became even more difficult to pray together when my family lived separately from one another. I was 12 years old when my whole family moved to the US for my music education, but a year later, my dad returned to Korea to continue his work in ministry.

As the livestream of Gather25 began, five children stood at the edge of an auditorium stage as a guitar picked a simple introduction to ā€œThis Little Light of Mine.ā€ A spotlight focused on a boy who sang the first verse in English, then panned as each took a turn singing a few lines in their own languages.

A 25-hour-long event broadcast last weekend from seven locations around the world, Gather25 is the latest effort to bring together the global church for worship across tribes and tongues.

In February 2025, claims (archived) circulated on social media and news outlets including Fox News and Newsweek that 70 Christians were beheaded in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Media reports and posts (archived) on X (archived), Facebook and Instagram (archived) said the bodies of the victims were found in a church in Kasanga after the victims were kidnapped from Mayeba, both villages in North Kivu province in the country's northeast.

Pope Francis suffered two episodes of "acute respiratory failure" on Monday, the Vatican said.

The episodes were caused by a "significant accumulation of endobronchial mucus and consequent bronchospasm," the Vatican's press office said in a brief statement.

According to doctors, acute respiratory failure indicates the pope was not responding to oxygen therapy. Endobronchial mucus means there is mucus and fluid in the deep parts of the lung or lungs,...

Nicole Shanahan, the billionaire and former vice presidential running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has dabbled in everything from Eastern mysticism to yoga and has even practiced Judaism for more than a decade. But after facing a "heart-wrenching" personal loss and intense "spiritual warfare" on the campaign trail, she says the only place she found refuge was in the arms of Jesus.
